Is the Green Card Lottery program right for me?

Every year, thousands of foreign nationals flock to America to study, work, or settle down and make a living. Referred to as the land of opportunities, America promises a better livelihood for many foreigners who struggle to make ends meet in lesser developed nations. Getting an immigration visa is the only legal way to enter the United States of America. There are different immigrant visas thrown open to foreigners based on their needs. Of all the visas the Permanent Resident Card, also known as the Green Card, is the most important and the most beneficial. A Permanent Resident Card holder is entitled to enjoy all the rights of an American citizen, except the right to vote and to apply for federal jobs. Also, a Permanent Resident Card ensures easier and faster transition into American citizenship.

The U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery program, is a golden opportunity for all foreigners who wish to make a living in the United States legally. This Green Card Lottery program is organised by the U.S. Department of State annually to enable 50,000 foreigners from lesser developed nations migrate legally into the U.S.A. However, to win a Green Card Lottery, you will have to meet all the green card requirements as specified by the Immigration Department.

Every year certain countries are given the green card eligibility to participate in the Green Card Lottery program and certain countries are removed from the list. This is based on the number of immigrants a country sends in the previous five years. If this number exceeds 50,000 then the respective country is denied the green card eligibility to participate. Hence, if you hail from a country that is eligible to participate in the Green Card Lottery program, then you have satisfied the first of the Green Card Lottery requirements. Following this, you must possess an educational qualification that is the equivalent of a high school education in America OR you should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in the last five years. If you do not meet these Green Card Lottery requirements, then the Green Card Lottery is not for you because you will be rejected straightaway.

The Green Card Lottery program also specifies that you should not be booked under any criminal activity, nor should you suffer from incurable diseases like HIV or Tuberculosis. If you do not have any criminal record, and if you do not suffer from any serious medical condition, then you stand a chance to win a Green Card Lottery. The Green Card Lottery program is an ideal choice for you if you want to bring your immediate family (spouse, children, and parents) to America and settle down. Also, if you are looking for an easy and sure way to acquire an American citizenship, then winning the Green Card Lottery is your best shot for realizing that dream.

Having said all that, winning a Green Card Lottery is not easy and extreme care has to be exercised to make your application form error-free. This is where you will need the help from an expert organization like USA Green Card. USA Green Card hires trained people who offer professional assistance in determining your eligibility for the Green Card Lottery and also help in preparing and reviewing your visa lottery application form.

Official US Government Program

The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered on an annual basis by the Department of State and conducted based on United States law, specifically Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). This law provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants,” with visas made available to persons from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. The annual DV program makes 50,000 visas available to persons meeting simple, but strict, eligibility requirements. A computer-generated, random drawing chooses selectees for DVs. The visas are distributed among six geographic regions, and within each region, no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year. Visas are allocated to nationals of countries with historically lower rates of US immigration. Nationals of countries who have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States over the past five years are not eligible to apply for the Diversity Visa program. The Department of State implemented the electronic registration system beginning with DV-2005 in order to make the DV process more efficient and secure. The Department utilizes special technology and other means to identify those who commit fraud for the purposes of illegal immigration or those who submit multiple entries.
